Make Your EV Charger a Source of Revenue
For new condo developments, EV chargers can be included as a sales incentive or upgrade, like hardwood floors or marble countertops. For purpose-built rentals, parking stalls with EV chargers can be monetized with premium parking stall fees and through energy usage charges.

Developer FAQs
What are the current building codes, zoning bylaws, and government regulations regarding EV chargers?
Some Canadian cities and provinces require that new builds designate a certain number of EV-ready parking spaces (i.e. spaces where the electrical infrastructure exists to install EV chargers). Our local team can work with you to ensure you are following local and regional rules.
Should we install chargers now or just pre-wire the site for future installations?
There are typically cost savings associated with installing chargers when you install the infrastructure, but if you create EV-ready spots, our solutions offer you the flexibility to install additional chargers at a later date.
How many chargers are appropriate?
In the next 10 years, the number of electric vehicles on Canadian roads is set to increase significantly. The Government of Canada has set a target that by 2035, 100% of new light duty vehicles sold be ZEVs (zero emission vehicles). The vast majority of those are expected to be electric. For your development, it depends on a wide range of factors including your area, demographic, and budget. Our team at EVStart can work with you to find a solution that makes the most sense.
How does “load management” impact my electrical design?
Load management optimizes the distribution of electrical power to EV chargers, allowing chargers to share capacity at a 4-1 ratio. By balancing energy usage, it ensures reliable charging availability while maintaining overall building energy efficiency.
Are the chargers compatible with various EV models?
Yes, our Level 2 chargers are compatible with all EV models. Our solutions are also built on OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol), meaning that they are compatible with commonly available EV chargers and software.
